This Sunday we had a fantastic club match fished on the match pool, pegs 1 – 25. Fishing from 2pm – 7pm, lots of the larger carp were caught, particularly towards the end of the match where they appeared in the margins.
A. Such caught well throughout the match on peg 13, fishing at 13m in the middle of the two islands. Fishing shallow, feeding 4mm feed pellet (brought from the cafe), and bait banding the same pellet on the hook, he caught F1’s and carp to 5lb. Slapping the rig to create the noise of loose feed resulted in more fish, and the odd catapult of pellet meant that the fish were coming to the noise, but were also competing for bait resulting in more bites.
The winner of the match, A. Walker, had a great run of fish towards the end of the match. Fishing in the right margin on peg 21, 3 inches away from the reed bed, he loose fed caster and fished on cubed luncheon meat (about 8mm in size). at 6pm, in a fast 20 minute spell he put 3 fish in the net for an estimated 30lb which sealed the deal. He fished an incredibly light, well shotted float because the bites from the large carp were actually fairly finicky.
